Economics for Hawaii Teachers Course
Hawaiʻi Pacific University’s Economics for Hawaiʻi Teachers course will explain the causes of important economic phenomena around us such as inflation, Hawaii's high housing costs, and the effects of Hawaiian economic policies both contemporary and historical, and provides guidance and continuing support for educators of all subjects and grade levels to bring age-appropriate economics content into their classrooms. Economics Teacher Training Course
Hawaiʻi Pacific University’s Economics Curriculum & Instruction course is free for all Hawai'i teachers of all subjects and grades PreK-12. However, you must have previously completed HPU's Economics for Hawaii Teachers course, or receive an exemption due to other prior economics instruction to enroll. This course is designed to prepare teachers to teach a high school economics course, providing additional intuition behind economics concepts, guidance in solving economics problem sets, and relevant mathematical training. Furthermore, in order to pass this course you will be required to pass the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Economics Praxis Exam, and will thereby gain economics-specific teaching certification in Hawai’i. However, teachers are reimbursed for the cost of their Praxis Exam and study materials on passing. This course is produced by the Hawaiʻi Pacific University Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Education (CEEE) in collaboration with the HCEE.

Economics Challenge Project-Based Learning Course
This course supports high school economics teachers in preparing their students for a specific Project-Based Learning (PBL) opportunity—the annual Hawai‘i State Economics Challenge (EC). It provides teachers with the essential knowledge, resources, and strategies needed to guide effective student preparation for the competition. Through this PBL framework, the course demonstrates how real-world application of economic concepts can enhance student engagement, improve retention, and deepen understanding.
